Transparency

Transparency, trustworthiness, efficiency and lasting impact are paramount to us when selecting projects. We want to be certain that each Swiss Franc (or $, €…) matters and is used as impactful as possible. Therefore, we have developed our own KPI system and each project and organization is hold against it. Behind each KPI we have several sub-criteria that we will check on and evaluate.

Our core KPIs

Impact

For us one of the most relevant indicators is the impact of projects and organizations. We compare the impact of a project to other projects in the same area. We look at the track record and lasting positive change (also beyond project duration that has been achieved through these projects or the organization.

Expertise & network

We considering the number of years the organisations is operating as well as the special know-how and network it has in specific fields of operation, regions and cultures.

Transparency

Our assessment of charities goes beyond the publicly available information. We ask for references, assess individual projects and demand further details on their expenses and use of money. Also a personal relationship is established with all our partners.

Measurability

We want to understand the impact. The measurability of impact also indicates how much the organization is focused on the impact, e.g. beyond the duration of the project. Not all projects can be equally or easily measured, expertise and experience is required to assess a project.

Cost-impact ratio

How effective is a charity at doing good? Often the overhead ratio is considered, which is easy to calculate. To give you a reference, most charities have administrative costs between 15-35%. However, for us the cost-impact ratio is a more critical number, to evaluate the effectiveness of doing good.

Transparency on our own operations and use of funds

100% of the donations coming through our website will be passed on to the project!
Our business partners have to pay a 10% provision on their donated amounts. We use these funds to cover a) our operating costs (excluding personnel costs, all of us currently work pro bono) and b) to ourselves support projects through special campaigns (e.g. social media campaigns).

Operating costs:
– founding costs
– website, payment provider, bank account and server costs
– any other operating expenses, like prints, office materials mailings. etc. (so far covered by private expenses of the founders)

We want to also thank Printo.ch, who is one of our partnering businesses, but also one of our print shops of our choice! They also help us to ensure that all printed materials are fulfilling highest sustainability standards, e.g. FSC certified, even the glue used on stickers is environment friendly… because we care! For simpler prints we collaborate with DieUmweltdruckerei.de, who offers climate neutral printing.

All additional profits are again re-donated:
– through social media campaigns (share a photo and we donate)
– possibly other future campaigns or partnerships

Because we care about the climate.

We aim to choose the most environmentally friendly option to print.
